The ALIAWest Committee would like to invite all non-members of ALIAWest to join us for our first event of 2010 - the ALIAWest Icebreaker. This early March event will provide non-members with an excellent opportunity to meet the present team of ALIAWest and hear about some of our plans for 2010.
The UWA Library service will be hosting the event at their impressive Science Library, which opened in July 2009. The event will feature two guest speakers. The first of these will be Ms Margaret Allen, CEO and State Librarian at the State Library of Western Australia. Ms Allen, who recently became the Vice-president and President-elect of ALIA's Board of Directors, has extensive experience in both public and special libraries. Our second guest speaker will be one of the architects of the UWA Science Library, who will be speaking about the design of the building. A guided tour of the library will take place afterwards for all interested individuals.
This occasion also presents a great networking opportunity and a chance to ask as many questions as you like about ALIAWest and its activities. We hope to see you there! Please contact Gemma Lyon (contact details below) by Friday 26 February if you would like to register for this event.
