The ALIAWest committee are a group of passionate, engaged information professionals who represent the library and information community in WA. We organise social, professional development and other interesting events for the LIS sector across WA.

Nicola is the Systems and Circulation Technician in the Client Engagement Team at Curtin University, providing frontline services to all library clients. She is currently building on her BA Librarianship and Corporate Information Management by studying towards a Graduate Diploma in Local, Family and Applied History at University of New England.

Camille has qualifications in librarianship, archives and records management, and will be adding a data management qualification at the end of 2018. Camille currently works for an oil and gas company and has been on the ALIAWest committee or its predecessors since 2001.




Monique Aviso
Monique is a Library Technician in the Collections Team at Curtin Library. She has worked for community arts and workplace training. She is raising rebellious girls and needy pets in her tiny city apartment, as well as numerous veggies in the community garden. Her newfound hobby is quilting.



Lori Mansell
Lori completed a Diploma of Library and Information Services in July 2020 and is currently studying a Cert III in Business while working as an Administration Officer at the Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre. She is also assisting the CRC in the process of arranging for the local library (currently located at the shire offices) to be moved and relocated at the Community Resource Centre.



Elena Smirnova
Lena completed the Diploma in Library and Information Services course at NM TAFE in 2021. In April 2021 she enjoyed her work experience at the City of Perth Library. She has been volunteering for Birtwistle Local Studies Library in Armadale since 2018 and in 2020 became a volunteer for the State Library of WA to help with events and surveys. Due to volunteering at the State Library she became a casual library officer in 2021. Her hobbies are knitting and yoga.




Maranne Purnell
Maranne is the Head of Library at Trinity College, overseeing library services in both the junior and senior school. She has a background in education, having worked as a teacher for 15 years before switching to librarianship. Maranne has previous experience in both academic and special libraries, having worked at The University of Notre Dame and the Scholastic Book Bunker at Perth Children’s Hospital. She is passionate about the promotion of lifelong learning and tries her hardest to get students engaged in reading for enjoyment. Maranne was awarded the F A Sharr Award for 2020.



Emily Paull
Emily completed her Masters of Information Studies through Charles Sturt University in 2021, though she has been working in public libraries since 2017. She came to the GLAMR field from a background in bookselling and is also a published author. Emily currently works as a librarian part time for the City of Melville, and was the 2021 FA Sharr Award recipient. Her passions are Readers' Advisory and Collection Development.




Josué Galindo
Josué is a Digital Services Library Technician at the Esperance Public Library. He enjoys combining library services and information technology skills to deliver quality customer support to the community. He specialises in library systems, and eResources, improving workflows and efficiencies and has a strong customer service focus for providing one-on-one tech help and digital literacy skill building to local and visiting customers. He loves working in a team environment and sharing ideas to improve the service. When not working he enjoys spending time with his young family and the great Esperance coast lifestyle.
