ALIA 2009 F.A. Sharr Medal
The ALIAWest Committee invites you to attend the presentation of the ALIA 2009 F.A. Sharr Medal. This prestigious award is presented to an individual who has just completed their final year of a library and information degree or diploma - or is in their first year of employment - and who exhibits the most potential to have a positive impact on the LIS profession.
The 2009 medal will be presented by Margaret Allen, CEO AND State Librarian at the State Library of Western Australia. Ms. Allen recently became the Vice-president and President-elect of ALIA's Board of Directors and has extensive experience in both public and special libraries. Upon receiving the award, the 2009 F.A. Sharr medallist will provide a short speech on an important future issue impacting on their chosen field. Our guest speaker for this event will be Associate Professor Matthew Allen, an eminent academic staff member at Curtin University of Technology and current Chair of the Library Board of Western Australia.
This is a special event on the ALIAWest annual calendar. This award is reserved for individuals residing in Western Australia and hence it always retains a high degree of relevance and value to the profession in this state. We would be delighted if you could join us on 25th May to congratulate the winner of the 2009 award! Please RSVP Vicky Carlyon (contact details below) by Monday 17 May if you would like to register for this event. Refreshments will be provided.
