With the generous support from so many sponsors, there was a diverse range of prizes including a Google Home Mini, a Kindle eReader, accommodation at the Alex Hotel in Northbridge, an indulgence hamper and a range of bookshop vouchers, book packages, wine and chocolates it was a feast for the eyes.
The tables were full, the laughter loud, and the excitement was building.
Kael Driscoll from UWA, made the perfect MC for the evening with an intriguing 5 round of questions that covered a range of subjects, some of which were supplied by his children, which caused a few bouts of laughter, at the questions and the answers....
Chloe and Sophie kept everything on track at the podium whilst other committee members were involved with marking, selling raffle tickets and organising the inter round games.
The winners were Team The Power Outages with an impressive 41 points
The team running last had to be decided with a tie breaker, which caused a certain amount of hilarity and was won by Team Puzzled Penguins on a respectable score of 27.
The Challenge and Controversy caused by 2 questions made for an interesting interlude between rounds - with surprised comments being made about the Sound of Music Soundtrack beating Sargent Pepper in the billboard stakes in 1968. The number of synergies between Mel Gibson, Kenneth Branagh and Ethan Hawke also caused some comments and a recount of some scores.....
