Celebrating Excellence - Library and Information Week Awards 2018

The Library Board of Western Australia Awards ceremony was held at the State Library on Thursday 24th May, and there were plenty of reasons to celebrate!

The 2017 F A Sharr Award was awarded to Claire Murphy, who is the Coordinator (Learning Success) at Curtin University Library. The F A Sharr Award is presented to a Western Australian librarian, teacher librarian or library technician within their first three years following graduation, who exhibits the most potential to make a significant contribution to the library profession in WA. The recipient receives a $500 bursary to spend on professional development activities of their choice. Previous recipients of the Award include ALIA Fellow Ann Ritchie and our very own WAIN creator and moderator-extraordinaire, Peter Green. This year, Claire wowed the selection panel with an inspiring and informed presentation, which she reprised during the Awards evening. Congratulations Claire!

The Awards ceremony is a highlight of Library and Information Week, and we congratulate all of the worthy recipients of awards and thank them for their ongoing involvement in, and support of, the LIS community in Western Australia. We also thank Margaret Allen and the State Library for hosting the event, and for inviting ALIAWest to be involved in the presentation of awards.
